Only recently had we managed to spend some time together (thank god we spoke so often on the phone) and I wish there were more good times ahead, for us both. Your kindness knew no bounds and I will be very grateful to you for that. Especially when I told you about my cancer. We both laughed our heads off when you mentioned how lucky we are and I suggested he buy a lottery ticket after he has rubbed that quid in my hands. So funny. I miss that humour already. Rest assured I will continue your tradition of laughing at your own jokes ( I do it too) and remain positive because you told me that daily. You have the most beautiful family who will forever miss you. Xxxx

It's hard to believe that you're no longer with us Gary, but my fond memories of our life and times together will endure. We shared so much in our childhood, and throughout adulthood, but sadly we won't get to share growing old together. Grrrr, I was looking forward to that! I enjoyed beating you at chess, at least a couple of times, but I regret not trying harder last time we played for our snooker/pool trophy. That was a thrashing I won't ever forget! I cherish the memory of every moment we spent together - there was never a bad one. Our day at Live8 was one of the best days of my life and our time together on holiday in Sicily, Paxos and Spain is right up there. I miss your laugh and I really miss our daily chats. Christmas without your company will never be the same again! This time last year you sent me one of the most touching texts anyone could ever wish to receive.
